01 / About MAP Sensor

About MAP Sensor

An external manifold-pressure sensor supplies an analogue load signal to the ECU. Once the unit is confirmed as MAP4, use its 0–4 bar absolute range and matching calibration curve. A different sensor cannot use that curve simply because it has the same pressure range.

04 / Fitment & installation: MAP Sensor

Fitment & installation: MAP Sensor

  1. Check the model, hardware revision and connector pins against the device’s wiring diagram.

  2. Use the exact ECU wiring diagram; verify every circuit for continuity and shorts before connecting power.

  3. For the identified MAP4, mount above the manifold pressure take-off and select Link 4 Bar in PCLink. Check key-on engine-off pressure against local atmospheric pressure.

05 / Questions about MAP Sensor

Questions about MAP Sensor

Does 4 bar MAP mean 4 bar boost?

No. MAP is absolute pressure. At roughly 1 bar atmospheric pressure, a 4 bar absolute sensor reaches about 3 bar of boost pressure.

Can I use the MAP4 curve for any 4 bar sensor?

No. Equal range does not imply equal voltage calibration. Match the part number, supply, ground and transfer curve before tuning.

How should an identified Link MAP4 be installed and selected in PCLink?

Link specifies mounting the MAP4 above the intake-manifold connection and selecting Link 4 Bar in PCLink. Use the housing pinout and 5 V sensor supply, not battery voltage; check engine-off pressure against local atmospheric pressure before tuning.

Does a MAP sensor measure air-fuel ratio?

MAP measures manifold absolute pressure for a compatible ECU input. Air-fuel or lambda measurement requires an oxygen sensor and its matching controller; these are different measurements.
